Didactic Unit PLANTS



  

TITLE OF THE UNIT: PLANTS
SUBJECT: SCIENCE
COURSE/LEVEL: SECOND GRADE (PRIMARY EDUCATION)

1. Learning outcomes
 / Evaluation criteria
-To recognise plants as living things.
-To understand what plants need to grow and how they obtain food.
-To distinguish between the main parts of a plant and explain their functions.
-To identify the roots, stem, leaves, flowers and fruits of plants.
-To know the classification of plants as trees, bushes and grasses.
-To learn to respect plants.
2. Subject Content
-Parts of a plant.
-Flowers, fruits and seeds related to the growth of a plant.
       -Main functions of roots, stems and leaves.
       - Types of plants: trees, bushes and grasses.
       - The life cycle of a plant.
       - Products obtained from plants
3. Language Content / Communication
Vocabulary
-Nouns: plants, flower, bush, tree, grass, stem, leaves, roots, water, soil, sun, and air
   -Verbs: grow, need, live, obtain, classify, respect, identify.
   -Adjectives: tall, beautiful, bright, colorful, fast-growing, large, rare, aromatic
   -Prepositions: to, into, inside, above

To connect the topic with something known by the children, which will able to recognise in their free time and daily life.

Comprehend, analize, explain, connect the ideas with the topic and vocabulary.

To make a minibook about Plants.
6. (b) Activities
1. Watch a video about the parts of a plant.
2. Play a game about how plants grow.
3. Watch a presentation (glogster) about the parts of a flower and the plant cycle.
4. Learn a song about the necessities of a plant to grow.
7. Methodology
Organization and class distribution / timing
There will be big group, pairs and individual assessment.
It will take two sessions/performances around 50 minutes.

8. Evaluation (criteria and instruments)
The Evaluation will be based on the activities planned, by the observation of the class and the questions asked to the children, their activities in big group and individual.

  1. Buenas tardes,

    Considero que esta unidad sobre las plantas para Primaria, está diseñada de forma muy sencilla y concisa. Esto es algo que ayudar a llevarla a la práctica por parte del docente.

    Por otro lado, me gustaría comentar la utilidad de los recursos interactivo que se presentan, creo que pueden resultar especialmente motivadores para los alumnos de esta edad.

    En mi opinión, el planteamiento de tu unidad didáctica sobre las plantas es correcto, claro y práctico. Aunque soy de educación secundaria, algunos de los recursos propuestos para tus alumnos también serían perfectamente aplicables para impartir los contenidos sobre the Plant Kingdom en 1º de ESO.
