http://poster.4teachers.org/        Class Code238800
Task 2: Vocabulary activity combined to "traffic light" activity
Words: Aeration, Antiseptic, Asepsis, Autoclave, Bacillus Stereathermophillus, Bacillus Subtilis, Bactericidal, Bactereostatic, Biological Indicator, Bowie-Dick Test, Chemical Indicators, Decontamination, Disinfectant, Disinfection, Ethylene Oxide (EO), Glutaraldehyde, Pathogenic, Sanitation, Spores, Sporicidal, Sterile, Sterilization

Students will learn specific glossary with definitions. Students will also be given flash cards with the words written on them, to make students easier to understand.

Self or pair assessment worksheets to grade themselves or in pairs
Grade worksheet with assessment criteria: to pass with merit this activity, 6 up on 10 words will have been well explained or identified in images.

Task 3. Clinical activity simulation in the classroom
To work in the classroom as if students were in the real work environment in the CSSD in hospitals.
Universal precautions should be taken into account. The classroom will become a simulated CSSD where students dressed in appropriate attire will do:
•    Disinfection of surgical instruments simulation
•    Using and cleaning of ultrasonic
•    Textile material package in whole paper envelopes
•    Nonwovens material used to package surgical instruments
•    Surgical instrumental package in rigid container systems
•    Isolated pieces of surgical instruments package in pouch packaging
•    Simulated packages with chemical indicators
•    Simulates packages with biological indicators
•    Instructions to use and clean the autoclave
Timing:
Previously at home, students will do treasure hunt activity at home as motivation activity in order to familiarize them with central sterilization service department environment and staff
Session 1: Treasure hunt activity
30 minutes: students will watch the video in the classroom twice and will try by themselves to do the task. After estimated time, 20 minutes, students will share in pairs and will try to answer all the questions they have been asked for.
20 minutes: Each pair will explain the other schoolmates their results.
Treasure Hunt self-assessment with self-assessment sheet
30 minutes: students, in group of four, will do a classroom display with the correct answers of the assigned questions.
Session 2: Vocabulary activity
First part:
40-45 minutes to match images and cards and to complete definitions in the vocabulary worksheet.
Students will be encouraged to self-assess and think more carefully about their learning.
A traffic lights system and image is used. At the end of the activity, students will have the most words in the green side of the traffic light.
In this activity teamwork and co-operation are reinforcing activity development is always under the teacher's supervision.
•    G (green light - understand this very well)
•    A (amber light) - need a bit of support but understand the basics or...
•    R (red light - help I don't understand).
When teacher observes their marks written on the vocabulary worksheet and feedback to the students, it is really useful to know how they feel about the topic and helps teacher target students more effectively in class.
Resting time (10 minutes)
Second part:
After reading the text from the webpages that has been given printed to students, they will know how to process all material in a very theoretical way. 50 minutes: Students will be asked to do in groups of 6, flashcards with a CSSD procedure previously assigned and will explain to the other at the end of the session how their procedure should be done.
Some procedures are selected for the teacher to develop them in the simulated CSSD.
The list of procedures could include:
•    Disinfection of surgical instruments simulation with Glutaraldehyde
•    Disinfection of surgical instruments simulation with ultrasonic
•    Surgical instruments cleaning and drying
•    White coat package
•    Gauzes package
•    Simulated quality control package
•    Sterilized packages storage in sterile zone
•    Sterilized packages delivery and collecting procedures
Students will give the teacher the flashcards to be corrected with language and content assessment criteria. At the end of the session, each spokesperson will share with the group the assigned procedure making special attention in universal precautions.
Session 3: CSSD procedures development in the classroom
First part:
30 minutes: Students under teacher's supervision will explain by order the procedures meanwhile his or her team school mates prepare the assigned zone in the classroom with all the material, equipment and instruments.
15 minutes to finish simulated CSSD, revising materials, information cards…
Making photographs are allowed in order to prepare a better presentation.
Up to the end of the session, students, with the appropriate attire and protection, will do all the procedures previously explained and made by the teacher.
Each 20 minutes there will be a change of zone in order to make all the procedures at the simulated CSSD.

Session 4:
Students will repeat the procedures as need as possible to improve students' professional skills
When students make a procedure, every person in the group observe learner in order to help her or his to improve their experimental and English communication skills.
Teacher will revise all procedures during the session and will complete the rubric after direct observation of students and groups.
Due to the reason that English is not include in the curriculum of degrees regulated by Spanish L.O.G.S.E. Law, the objective of this unit is reinforce the content taught at content classes and improve students' English skills. It is expected that all students pass this unit with a good mark.
