Proyecto final: The wheel of colours

Mi unidad didáctica, titulada "The wheel of colours" está diseñada para la asignatura de Arts and Crafts, para el primer nivel del tercer ciclo de primaria: quinto curso. Consta de cuatro lecciones de noventa minutos cada una.

Los objetivos de aprendizaje que se persiguen son los siguientes:

• To develop creativity and imagination through visual, tactile and sensory experience.
• To understand and respond to the world in a unique manner.
• To develop their understanding of size, shape, colour, texture, image and media….
• To develop their ability to use materials and processes to convey feelings, meanings and ideas.
• To learn how to make thoughtful judgments and aesthetic practical decisions.
• To learn how to criticize constructively and accept criticism too.
• To know the primary, secondary and tertiary colours.
• To combine colours to get the required one.

Esta unidad responde a los siguientes principios metodológicos:

·      A Clil methodology: content and language taught in an integrated way.

·      The language learning concentrates on the functional aspects of the language, within a framework of communicative situations. The aim of teaching through a foreign language is that the students reach a Communicative Competence: fluency is more important than accuracy.

·      Students will construct their own knowledge with the help of strategies and activities provided: scaffolding.

·      The learning is meaningful: students must relate new knowledge to what they already know. Contents are logic and coherent.

·      Students take part in their own learning process. They have an active role and they are given the opportunity to experiment on their own to realise how much they really understand and learn.

·      Errors are seen as a positive signal of improvement.

Cada una de las cuatro lecciones empieza y termina con una rutina: una canción para comenzar la session que actua como calentamiento y otra para terminarla y recoger los materials.

Las actividades son motivadoras siguen una secuencia progresiva de dificultad, y se llevan a cabo con diferentes agrupamientos de estudiantes. Las actividades lingüísticas son variadas: una historia, canciones, una rima… Respecto al contenido los alumnos realizan trabajos prácticos e interesantes que les permiten poner en práctica la teoría aprendida al mismo tiempo que practican la lengua inglesa. Los trabajos de los estudiantes se exponen para que sientan la recompensa del trabajo bien hecho, puedan admirar y les sirvan de ejemplo los trabajos de los compañeros y tengan un sentimiento de responsabilidad para esforzarse en sus tareas.
